Hello and welcome to our fifth BastionRP SITREP! Continuing the tradition of aptly named SITREPs, this time around we have a lot of exciting screenshots to share with you regarding the underground portion of our map! Additionally, we are excited to announce a new website functionality, introduce a new homepage, introduce our subscriptions system for contributors, announce changes and additions to our contributor perks, release some of the ISF's internal documentation, and shed some light on our Closed Testing Sessions and how long they will last for. Buckle up!

The Underground
As we first revealed in the last SITREP, a large part of our focus has been the development of a never-before-seen, fully-featured underground portion of our custom map, Korolgrad. Today, we will fully introduce you to the environment assets our developers have been working on in order to make this dream a reality.
 
First off, we'd like to showcase the hard work one of our newest members of the team, @Divinefury, has undertaken in order to pull this idea off. One of the two themes we wanted to explore in the Underground was a sewage facility/sewer line that would lead curious survivors outside the walls, provided they know their way around its maze-like design enough. Divinefury took this description and ran with it, as you can probably tell...

We are very pleased with the way this turned out. We are still working on more models for this portion of the Underground, so stay tuned for more screenshots to share next SITREP.
 
Next up, @Misho (another new addition to the development team) has been diligently working on the second theme we wanted to incorporate into the design of the Underground; a fully-realized metro platform and rail line. The custom modeling and texturing is still in its early stages, but we feel compelled to give you all a taste of what's to come as we near our Open Alpha release.

We truly couldn't be happier with the development on this over the past couple of weeks, and we will only have more to share as more is completed.
New Light
Next, we want to shed some light on another new feature of our map that @ZeRoY dreamt up - working lights! In order to give the impression that the NCC are indeed the most powerful faction in our universe, we thought it'd probably be a good idea to update their city to the 21st century. So, from sundown to sunup, you can expect the streets of Korolgrad to be lit up by the city lights. Have some screenshots!

The Archives
We'd like to introduce the design for a new website feature that will be rolling out within the next couple of days - an actual wiki for in-game and in-character lore, which we are nicknaming "the Archives". This functionality, which is in-character explained as the NCC's official Intranet service for data collection and collation, will be a point of reference for any community member looking to understand more about the world we are building. To share a little bit about what this will look like (ignore the actual content, it's placeholder):

To accompany this roll-out, we will be releasing the locations of our major Bastions over the next week on the world map. Following this, we'll be linking it all up with our new wiki functionality, and our Lore Team (more on this next SITREP) will be releasing some of the lore they've been working on for those who have been patiently waiting for more information.

Our new homepage is live! Feel free to check it out here. If you have any suggestions for the website, please let us know in the Suggestions Forums or on Discord!
 
Subscriptions & Benefits
Our new subscription system is set to roll out on the 5th of October! This system will allow members of the community to subscribe to our contributor packages for a lower monthly cost than if one bought it outright. The subscription system begins with Countryman; the lower-tier contributor packages are not included in this program. The prices are as follows:

Countryman - $10/month

Patriot - $15/month

Benefactor - $20/month

Philanthropist - $25/month

Trustor - $30/month

Of course, for those who prefer buying their products outright, those options remain available.
 
Alongside this comes a restructuring of our Contributor Packages. We have added quite a lot of functionality to allow community members to personalize their profile and their experience while browsing the BastionRP website, most of which have not found their way into the Contributor Package system. Expect more on this on the 5th of October!
 
The Tower
Imported by @ZeRoY for use by the ISF, this new security tower serves two purposes - it bulletproof windows act as physical cover for the ISF, and they are quite the imposing deterrent to any who might think of open rebellion.

The Handbook
@Roger has been working night and day to finish up the first draft of the ISF's Handbook, which is available to all whitelisted ISF members for immediate viewing. In this document, standard operating procedures, security codes, and other vital information are included to ensure that the ISF are equally formidable in-character as well as fair and fun out-of-character. Check it out in the ISF's Forums.

If you don't have access to these forums, may we suggest trying your hand at joining up with the ISF?
 
Closed Testing
Closed Testing will officially begin on the 15th of October, 2019. We will be releasing more information in a separate announcement about what exactly is included within these closed testing sessions, what our goals and objectives will be, and how long we expect them to last. Expect that information within the coming week.
 
Staff Changes
Once again, we have a couple of changes in this department:

Firstly, in order to ensure a more effective workflow as we move into our Closed Testing Sessions, we have created a new role, named the Staff Lead. The Staff Lead's job is essentially to act as the second-in-command of the ship, acting as the go-to for administrative related functions, so that the Project Lead can focus on managing the development of the server itself as we head towards an Open Alpha release. Along with the Administrator team, the person in this role will organize staff initiatives, handle staff promotions and onboarding, and write new processes and procedures wherever necessary.

We'd like to congratulate @Strider on taking this position and we hope he continues to make an impact in the role.

Secondly, we'd like to introduce a few more members of the team on both the development and administrative end, which will round out our team at twenty-five members and set us up for success through our Closed Testing Sessions.

Misho
Developer

Misho is an experienced developer and technical artist with years of experience in professional game development, as well as valuable DayZ modding experience picked up from a myriad of previous projects and communities. Here, he will be supporting development efforts in the form of environment and asset creation, starting with the development of the Metro area of our Underground.

Divinefury
Developer

Jesse, known to us as Divinefury, is 21 years old and hails from the Netherlands. He pursues painting for a living and does 3D modeling and art as a hobby, with most of his experience being put to work in a variety of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 modifications. He supports development efforts as an environment and asset artist, and he is responsible for the excellent Sewer area of our Underground.

Xavier
Support

Xavier has been involved with the roleplaying scene for about eight years, starting with the serious text-based Half-Life 2 Roleplay on Garry’s Mod and gradually moving towards DayZ. Throughout his time at roleplay communities, he's usually found myself in staff positions that involve some level of story-writing and event creating. He will bring this experience to Bastion, starting with working with the Lore Team to write Asia/Oceania specific lore among other parts of the lore.

PhoenyxxRP
Support

Phoenyxx has been involved with the roleplaying scene for quite a while, gaining experience in leadership positions within several roleplaying communities. She is excited and looking forward to BastionRP, and she hopes to bring her skills and positive attitude to the staff team. Above all else, she wishes to make the experience at Bastion welcoming and fun for all who play here.

Jasper
Support

Jasper has been involved with the DayZ roleplaying scene since 2015 and has played at almost every community since then. He's been in a staff role in several other communities and hopes to apply that prior experience at Bastion as a support team member.

Mamba
Support

Last but not least, Mamba has helped lead one of the most popular roleplay communities to date, and his DayZ experience spans all the way back to the original DayZ mod. He brings to the table, above all, his experience not only as a leader, but as someone capable of training others and mediating issues within the community. His role in support will give him the opportunity to point new members in the right direction and answer any questions new members may have about the community or DayZ itself.

Damn, it would be cool if the underground would be an extension to the living space above ground for those not as fortunate. Sort of like a metro-esque setting.

Maybe even a breeding ground for black market trades.

That's entirely our goal! We want the underground to be an unofficial ground for unsavory characters and trades. We plan on incorporating actual player housing in Bastion, but we aren't entirely sure if we will be able to have actual player housing in the underground.

I think the underground would be the equivalent of being homeless, so fire barrels, cardboard sleeping pads, etc would be fitting. Not really anything extreme. Pretty much a free-for-all to find a comfortable sleeping place.

Having an old underground city like those common in the north would be dope! Nothing crazy, some prefab storefronts or something if possible would be nice!
